Tonight our country and our world are in a horrible mess! The stock market may crash any moment! Millions of people will be left without money! Nearly one trillion dollars was lost in a single day last week! Muslim men are raping hundreds of women as they spread across Europe. They are invading Europe like the Muslim fanatics did in the eighth century! And there’s no one to stop them! Yet Obama wants to bring thousands of them here to America! It seems to me that we’re destabilized enough as it is! World problems are out of control! Climate change has caused a five-year drought in California and wild storms and flooding throughout the heart of America at the same time! Life on this planet is dark and frightening! If your hopes are focused on this world, they will soon be shattered!

Things are even worse in the churches! Millions of people are leaving them. The Southern Baptists lost 200,000 members last year. So-called Christians do not attend church regularly. Most of them never give any money to missions. Even the best ones only go to church on Sunday morning. They never attend prayer meeting. They bring in snare drums and wild music trying to attract young people. It isn’t working. Young people are leaving their churches in droves. The preachers don’t know what else to do! It’s a big mess, and everybody knows it!

But Jesus said, “When these things begin to come to pass, then look up – your redemption draweth nigh.” Christ is coming again. He will descend through the clouds with power and great glory! He will establish His Kingdom on this earth. It will be a time of peace and prosperity that the world has never known!

There are more verses on that subject than any other prophecy in the Bible. The prophets of the Old Testament wrote about it! Christ spoke about it constantly! The Apostles wrote about it again and again in the New Testament! The Prophet Isaiah said,

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called…The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end” (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Do you realize that every time you pray the Lord’s Prayer you pray for His Kingdom to come on earth? You pray,

“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.”

God is going to answer that prayer at the Second Coming of Christ! Two things will happen at that time. First, Satan will be bound. Second, Christians will reign with Christ on the earth.

I. First, God will bind Satan for a thousand years.

The Bible says,

“He laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years” (Revelation 20:2).

Christ will reign over the earth for a thousand years. It will begin with the binding of Satan. Satan will be in prison for one thousand years, as Christ reigns on the earth. The Bible says,

“He must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet” (I Corinthians 15:25).

When Christ comes back to reign, the Devil’s power will be gone. He will be bound in the bottomless pit for a thousand years. That alone will make the world a much better place!

Life here on earth will be paradise. The world will be restored. It will be like it was before man sinned. Even the animals will be restored. The Bible says,

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb…the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:6, 9).

In Christ’s thousand-year Kingdom, both man and animals will live together peacefully. “A little child” shall lead lions and wolves – and have no fear! “The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord.” Everyone will know about God and Christ. Again, the Bible says,

“The eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb [shall] sing” (Isaiah 35:5-6).

The Hippies said, “Make love, not war.” Instead they took drugs and burned down buildings. But in the thousand-year Kingdom of Christ we will actually love each other. There will actually be no war! Christ is the Prince of Peace. He will rule the world.

II. Second, Christians will reign with Christ for a thousand years.

The Apostle John said,

“I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years” (Revelation 20:4).

These are Christians who refuse to worship the “beast.” The beast is the Antichrist. He will cut off their heads. But they will reign in Christ’s Kingdom for a thousand years. Other Christians will reign with Christ as well. The Bible says that they are redeemed by Christ’s “blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth” (Revelation 5:9-10).

True Christians will be caught up to meet Christ in the air. We will then descend with Him to the top of the Mount of Olives to reign with Him over the earth. This is given in several places in the Bible. One of the clearest places in the Bible is in Zechariah 14:4, 5. It says,

“His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives...and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee” (Zechariah 14:4, 5).

Christians will reign over the world. We will be rewarded for our works. The Bible says, “God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love” (Hebrews 6:10). God remembers everything you do for Him and for the church. When we do work for Christ we are laying up “treasures in heaven.” Christ said,

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Brothers and sisters, lay up “treasures in heaven” – that will last for eternity! Do evangelism and win souls for Christ! Pray with all of your might! Give joyfully to the work of the Lord! When a real Christian does these things he is laying up treasures in Heaven that will last forever. The souls that we win will bring great rewards to those who win them, and work to help them become good Christians. That is the great work Christ gave us in the Great Commission when He said,

“Go ye therefore, and [make disciples of] all nations” (Matthew 28:19).

Making disciples of all nations is the work that Christ sent us to do. That’s the work that pleases Him the most. That’s what will bring us the most rewards in His coming Kingdom! Our rewards in the Kingdom will be based on whether we have done our work for Him. If we do work our work for Him, He will say, “Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities” (Luke 19:17). Our reward in reigning with Christ depends on how faithful we have been in doing His work. The greatest work that Christ gave us to do is soul winning. He said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19). That’s what Christ told us to do. Everybody that does the work of soul winning will have a reward of some kind. We work together in the church to win souls. Some of you get names. Others call them. Still others pick them up in their cars. Some pray for them. Others actually lead them to Christ. But there are some people who are so lazy that they don’t do any of these things with any power. They should not expect to receive a reward.

But there are others of you that will receive no reward at all in Christ’s Kingdom. In fact, you will not even see Christ’s Kingdom – because you have never been born again. Jesus said,

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).

You will not enter Christ’s Kingdom! You will not reign in Christ’s Kingdom! You will not even see Christ’s Kingdom! You will be in Hell! The young people who have been converted in our church will be reigning with Christ while you are suffering in Hell! Then you will stand before God. All of your sins will be read from God’s books. You will be cast into the Lake of Fire! You will spend eternity in torment. It will be too late to trust Christ then. For some of you, it is nearly too late to trust Him now. I even fear that for some of you it is too late! Christ will say to you, “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41).

I want you to think about that. It’s not just words. I want you to go home and think about it. The eternal fire of Hell awaits you. Nothing that you do or say can keep you out of Hell. Only Christ can do that. You must come to Him, and throw yourself on Him for mercy. An old song says, “None but Jesus, none but Jesus, can do helpless sinners good.”

Dr. W. A. Criswell, the great pastor of the First Baptist Church in Dallas, said, “No one who is not converted can enter. The saints alone inherit the kingdom...All who enter that millennial kingdom are saved. They are regenerated by the blood of the Crucified One and no rejecter, no blasphemer, no unbeliever will have any part in the glorious coming kingdom” (W. A. Criswell, Ph.D., Expository Sermons on Revelation, First Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas, volume 5, p. 75).

You must be saved by Jesus now. You must be washed clean from your sins by His Blood now. It will be too late in that great day. Amen.
