"THREE FELLOWSHIPS PLANNING TO COMBINE"

Last week my wife and I attended the national meeting of the Baptist Bible Fellowship in Huntington Beach, California and the national meeting of the Global Baptist Fellowship seven miles away, in Newport Beach.  At the BBFI meeting we heard first-rate sermons from men like Bill Carter and Bill Monroe. At the Global Fellowship, Bill Rench gave an excellent sermon containing an in-depth explanation of the famous mutiny on the Bounty.  We also heard Dr. Sam Davison and Dr. Paul Chappell preach vigorous sermons.

On Wednesday, we were astonished to learn that the World Baptist Fellowship, Southwide Baptist Fellowship, and the Baptist Bible Fellowship are seriously talking about joining together in a merger. Dr. John Rawlings gave the tentative name for the newly combined group as "World Baptist Fellowship." It would have the BBFI structure, the WBF name, and hopefully some of the Southwide-style preaching! The proposed "World Baptist Fellowship" would have a huge membership and a great potential for evangelism.
